Happy Together {Athens, Georgia Engagement Photographer}

I don't often shoot engagement sessions - probably in part because I don't photograph weddings, and the two often go hand in hand. But good golly,  I had such fun working with this couple. We played in their neighborhood and then headed out to the river where Kyle did his Doctoral research, which was really quite special. They so clearly enjoy each other, you can see it in these images, and so their delight was contagious.  They are smart and funny and in love and I'm so glad they trusted me to capture that. They're getting married far far west of Georgia, and I suspect that's going to be one joyful wedding. So to Kyle and Alexa - I wish you decades upon decades of wedded bliss. IMG_8724

Glow {Watkinsville, Georgia Family Photographer}

This Mama is someone I've crossed paths with since her eldest was a babe, and here she is now with three littles, and I finally got the chance to photograph them. They welcomed me into their home - which is one of my favorite places to shoot - seeing people in places where they are themselves. I love it when I work with a family that has such ease with each other. And like so many Mothers, Fran spoke of having no pictures of herself mothering - because let's be honest, Mamas get relegated to being behind the lens far too often. Or we foolishly want to wait for the day where we look the way we want to, and let life pass us by in the process. I urge all of you to stop waiting for that moment, because you are beautiful right this very moment, I promise. And the love you feel for your children makes you positively glow - I see it again and again. I adore seeing that glow. See how it glows here in Fran with her three growing babes.

Thanks for looking, and thank you Fran for allowing me to capture your beautiful little piece of life.

Till next time,

Sarah

It's Alive!

No seriously though. I may be the world's worst blogger. The worst. But life is full of busy some days, and this poor little platform has been collecting dust since (ack!) 2011. I am remiss and I will endeavor to do better.

In that vein - EarlyGirl Photography has had a whirlwind time since 2011! So many new faces and stories have passed in front of me, and I feel so exceptionally lucky for the privilege. 2013 was my busiest year yet, leaving the fall with little time for breathing - which was so fantastic. I hope 2014 has more happy adventures in store for the business. We'll see!

In my home life - things have also changed enormously since 2011. I am now Mama to two girls. Verity joined our family at birth via adoption in November 2012. She is so breathtakingly awesome I can't properly parse it. You'll have to take my word for it, unless you meet her in person of course, then it will be clear ;)

Adeline is now 8 and both a spectacular big sister and a generally beautiful human being. My husband Ben continues to be the best father and husband around, and through all the hills and valleys of joy and pain this life holds, we are two awfully lucky people.

So yes - if you don't hear from me here, feel free to chastise at will. I'll try to better, really I will.

And because I AM in fact a photographer - here is a picture of these girls of mine.
